How to Feature Media on Homepage

Featuring media on the Homepage gives prominence and quick access to important content. This is useful for promoting new content to portal users. Only media that is part of the portal can be marked as featured.

Featured media can be added, removed, and reordered to customize the display sequence on the Homepage.

You can feature media using two methods:

  • Portal Settings: Manage all featured media from a centralized location
  • Media Settings: Mark individual media as featured from Media Manager

Prerequisites​

  • You must belong to a group with Portal Management feature enabled, or have a CAL that grants this permission.

Feature Media from Portal Settings​

  1. In the left navigation panel, expand Admin and select Portal Settings.
  2. In the Portal Settings navigation, expand Home Page.
  3. Select Featured Media.
  4. The Featured Media section displays all media currently marked as featured.
  5. To add media, use the search bar to locate your media. Select the media from the search results to add it to the featured list.
  6. To reorder media, drag and drop items to your preferred position using the handle icon.
  7. To remove media, select the checkboxes next to the items you want to remove, then select Remove.
  8. Select Update to save your changes.

A notification confirms the successful update. Featured media displays on the Homepage in the configured order.

Feature Media from Media Settings​

You can mark individual media as featured directly from Media Manager.

  1. In the left navigation panel, expand Admin and select Media Manager.
  2. Locate the media you want to feature.
  3. Select the overflow menu (⋮) next to the media, then select Settings.
  4. Select the Access tab.
  5. Under How To Access It, select the Featured Videos checkbox.
  6. Select Save and Close.

The media now displays in the Featured Media section on the Homepage.

NOTE: When you select featured media on the Homepage, it navigates to the playback page. If the media is from another portal you have access to, that portal's playback page displays.

From Portal Settings​

  1. Navigate to Portal Settings > Home Page > Featured Media.
  2. Select the checkboxes next to the media you want to remove.
  3. Select Remove.
  4. Select Update to save your changes.

From Media Settings​

  1. In Media Manager, open the media's Settings.
  2. Select the Access tab.
  3. Clear the Featured Videos checkbox.
  4. Select Save and Close.
